The Wyoming Conservation Corps will be hosting their final glass recycling drive on February 7th, 2015. The event will take place by the bus drop off at Coe Library on the University of Wyoming campus from 9am-1pm. This is not the first time the Conservation Corps has delved in glass recycling. Volunteers are encouraged!
In the Spring of 2014, the crew leaders for the corps created the glass recycling drive due to the absence of a recycling program in Laramie. This project provided the members an opportunity to obtain service hours through a community based project. The overarching goal was to spread awareness and to fulfill the AmeriCorps commitment of the Conservation Corps.
The glass recycling initiative recycled over 50 tons of clear, brown, and green glass between April 2014 and August 2014. Altogether there was over 3.5 tons of carbon emissions saved by not producing new glass product!!
