Veterans Trail Crew- City of Buffalo

For Hitch 2 the Veterans Trail Crew headed up to Buffalo, Wy to work with the City of Buffalo. While on Hitch in Buffalo, the VTC, completed a number of projects for the City of Buffalo which included; trail maintenance and remediation, fence removal, and invasive species removal. Much of the VTC’s time was spent maintaining and improving existing trails by adding in proper drainage, tread armoring, and regrading trail tread.
For their day off, the VTC headed up to Sheridan to explore the town before heading out for a bit of fishing.
All Said and Done:
- 4 miles of trail remediated
- 21 water drains constructed
- 2 park benches installed
- 1 trail sign constructed
- 1 mile of barbed wire fence removed
- Approx. 150 Russian Olive trees removed
All-Women’s Crew- Grand Teton National Park

For Hitch 2, the All-Women’s Crew made the long drive back to Grand Teton National Park to continue invasive species mitigation and removal within the National Park. The All-Women’s Crew spent their time in Grand Teton NP spraying for a number of invasive species such as; Musk Thistle, Spotted Knapweed, Yellow Sweet Clover, Cheatgrass, and Hounds Tongue. Also, the crew spent a good amount of time mapping invasive species populations for spraying and removal at a later date.
For their day off, the All-Women’s Crew spent the day exploring Idaho Falls, ID in order to escape the rains in Grand Teton NP.
All Said and Done:
- Approx. 80 acres sprayed for invasive species
- Approx. 5 acres mapped for future spraying
Crew 1- Pilot Hill

For Hitch 2, Crew 1 had the short drive up to Pilot Hill where they worked alongside Crew 2 to construct new trail on Pilot Hill. Crew 1 spent a majority of their time on Pilot Hill clearing the trail corridor for Crew 2. Also, Crew 1 and Crew 2 worked collaboratively on rock stair cases and rock retaining walls.
For their day off, Crew 1 headed over to Cheyenne to spend the day bowling and mini golfing before enjoying a meal out.

- 1.33 miles of new trail constructed
- 265’ of trail edge armoring
- 110’ of rock retaining walls constructed
- 30’ of rock stair cases constructed
Crew 2- Pilot Hill

For Hitch 2, Crew 2 had the short drive up to Pilot Hill. During their time on Pilot Hill, Crew 2 and Crew 1 worked collaboratively on Trail 3, a 1.33 mile section of trail. Crew 2 also worked on a number of rock features around Pilot Hill which included edge armoring, rock stairs, retaining walls, and other rock features. Other projects included construction of rock cairns and trail remediation.
For their day off, Crew 2 spent the day hiking in the Snowy Range, enjoyed a meal out in Laramie, and celebrated a crew members birthday back at camp.

Crew 3- Glendo State Park

While at Glendo State Park, Crew 3 remediated and maintained a number of trails within the park. Crew 3 spent a majority of their time in Glendo improving trails by constructing a number rock staircases, rock ramps, and retaining walls. Also, Crew 3 began construction on a new trail reroute on Feather Rim trail.
For their day off, Crew 3 spent the day out on the lake relaxing, swimming, and fishing before heading into town to enjoy a meal out.

- 12 rock staircases constructed
- 5 rock ramps constructed
- 1 retaining wall constructed
- Approx. 10 miles of trail maintain and remediated
- .75 mile trail reroute constructed
