Veterans Trail Crew- Glendo State Park

To start off the season, the Veterans Trail Crew headed to Glendo State Park where they spent a majority of their time remediating and maintaining 11 miles of trails throughout the State Park. The VTC also built a new trail for a non-motorized boat launch and constructed new split rail fence.
All Said and Done:
- Maintained over 11mi of Trail
- Constructed 50ft of Split Rail Fence
All-Women’s Crew- Grand Teton National Park

For Hitch 1, the All-Women’s Crew had the long haul up to Grand Teton National Park where they were working on Invasive Species Removal. During their time at Grand Teton NP, the All-Women’s Crew sprayed for Smooth Brome to aid in Sage Grouse Habitat Restoration.
All Said and Done:
- Approx. 10 acres sprayed for Smooth Brome
Crew 1- Hot Springs State Park

For Hitch 1, Crew 1 headed up to Hot Springs State Park where they conducted general park maintenance and historic preservation. Crew 1 began their hitch by heading out to Legend Rock to restore and stain fence around the Legend Rock Visitor Center. Afterwards, Crew 1 spent a few days amending, remediating, and planting flowers in garden beds throughout the park. The last few days of their hitch was spent tearing down old fence lines around the State Park.
All Said and Done:
- .6mi of fence removed
- Stained approx. 200ft of Split Rail Fence
Crew 2- Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site

For Hitch 1, Crew 2 headed up to Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site where they spent a majority of their time constructing new trail for the park. Also, during their 10 days there, they added in walking gates and bike rollovers to existing fence line for the new trail.
All Said and Done:
- Constructed approx. .75mi of new trail
- Constructed 1 foot bridge
- Installed 4 gates
- Installed 1 bike rollover
Crew 3- Grand Teton National Park

For Hitch 1, Crew 3 had the long drive up to Grand Teton National Park where they were working on Invasive Species Removal within the National Park. Most of Crew 3’s time was spent spraying for Smooth Brome within Sage Grouse Habitat. To break up the spraying work, Crew 3 spent a bit of time collecting and cleaning seeds for the Parks seed catalog.

- Approx. 15 acres sprayed for invasives
- Approx. 6hrs collecting and cleaning seeds
Crew 4- Eastern Shoshone

For their first hitch of the season, Crew 4 headed up to the Wind River Reservation to work with Tribal Game and Fish to construct new Buffalo fence along the Wind River. During their time there, Crew 4 worked with the Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative to construct Buffalo Fence and to learn the importance of Buffalo to the tribe. Buffalo fence is constructed using 6 wires, 2 smooth and 4 barbed wire, and a lot of wooden posts and t-posts to give more strength to the fence.
