Crew 1, North Tin Cup Creek

Project Type: North Tin Cup Creek Artificial Beaver Dams (ABDs)

Project Sponsor: Trout Unlimited Salt River

For their final hitch Crew 1 got to work as human beavers and build dams and post assisted log structures in the North Tin Cup Creek. While splashing through the work, they also fell a couple of trees that gave them materials needed for the dams. For an education day their contact set minnow traps and the crew learned about native fish to the area and the ecological benefit that their work will have on the land. For their off day they hit the road and went to visit Idaho Falls, to the zoo and then even a book store. This crew made us all proud with their ability to complete any and all tasks they were confronted with throughout the summer. Thank you, Crew 1!

All Said and Done:

  • Constructed 2 miles of Beaver Dam Analogs and Post Assisted Log Structures
  • Fell 13 trees

For their final hitch of the season Crew 2 got to play in the mucky waters of Muddy Creek making Beaver Dam Analogs and then enclosing some of the structures with wildlife enclosures to ensure they would not be messed with from wildlife or cattle. This crew did such a good job that PBS even came out to watch them work! Later on in their hitch the crew even found evidence of beavers moving into the areas that they constructed to help in the project. For their education day the crew learned all about fly fishing and got to practice a few different types of casting. Thank you, Crew 2 for keeping great vibes all summer long and always finishing the job!
